Michael and Hannah spent the time trying to get a slightly harder kite to fly. It did just a little bit in the end.

Peter's Thomas kite was up and away with no trouble though, and Rebekah loved flying it on her own, until the wind started pulling just a little too hard against her. I think she felt like she'd be up in the air with the kite pretty soon, so asked me to take over again.

Peter was the only one who hadn't especially wanted to go. He decided seeing his Thomas kite flying was worth it though, and thought that was quite fun. He was just as happy to pick daisies, but he did enjoy flying the kite himself a bit.

Thomas was very obliging and stayed up in the air really well. I only took hold of it because the wind was pulling it quite hard and I was a little concerned we might lose it!

Meanwhile Sarah and Rebekah had been trying hard to get an older kite to fly. It only cost us a couple of pounds at the beach one year, and was probably past its best. It did okay, but was a lot more work. I'm glad I picked flying the Thomas kite with Peter. For a while we were sat on the floor, him on my lap, with Thomas very happily staying up in the air, while we also watched other people trying hard with theirs!
In the end, Rachel and Sarah wanted a go with Thomas, and while they did, Rebekah and Sarah made a fantastic game of running down the hill to me. They thoroughly enjoyed themselves. I think it must have felt a bit like flying, running through the breeze like that.

Sarah and I had another go with the kite they'd been flying, but we couldn't make it work any better, So Sarah stuck with flying Thomas. This isn't a great picture of me by any means, but you can see a bit of my swelling tummy on it!

Here's Rachel, full of happy life, after she'd been galloping off over the hill. We saw a horse going past on the road up through Stanmer, and that was it - Rachel was in horse mode, and what's more fun than being a horse galloping through fields? We lost several of them over the hill for a while. They were totally rejuvenated by running in the wind. :o)

I was exhausted before going out, and wasn't too sure how I was going to manage it, but I knew that we all needed it all the same. It felt SO good to be out in the breezy fresh air with green all around. I felt so much better while we were out, it was great, and everyone else cheered up a whole lot too. An hour very well spent. :o)
