Time for a change

We had a bit of a change at church this week - in terms of our bishopric that is. Our old bishop, Bishop Richard Hannis, had been a wonderful bishop but had been there for about 5 years I think and was ready to be released. The responsibility now falls upon our new bishop, Bishop David Mills! Debbie, I think you will remember his two counsellors, Daniel Top (1st counsellor) and Craig White (2nd counsellor). They'll do a great job I'm sure. My Dad took a few photos after they were set apart in the evening, and after Dad had ordained David to be a High Priest. They each received a lovely blessing. It was easy to see that David was the clear choice for the next bishop, but also to see how he and his family have been prepared in the last couple of years, and especially recently, for this calling. I mean in every way - spiritually, financially, with their home, transport needs met, Rachael and David's previous callings/jobs at church - how they have grown in them and learned from them, and even David's job. So even though it is a change to adjust to for them, I am sure they will do just fine. Actually, I was thinking the previous Sunday watching David at church as though he already acted like a bishop in his dealings with people - formally and informally. One of those preparations I guess. :o)

Our old and new bishop.
Maybe it was because of his tie!

Our new bishopric, in height order!

We had eaten as a whole family at David's house in the afternoon, and were heartily entertained by Sarah's latest party piece, her 'Granma laugh" as she calls it, which is very funny. Not after her Granma, but Angelina Ballerina's Granma apparently!

I also had the added bonus of having to travel with my parents to the setting apart, who were also attending an evening fireside (a meeting, not including a fire!) that the youth of the stake were putting on. That meant I had to go early to get to that too. I was delighted to find when we got there that it was a musical fireside, with a fantastic youth choir, and then various of the youth also reading various scriptures, quotes, and sharing their testimonies. It was lovely to hear their testimonies, and especially the music which I always love.
